What providerName to use within connection strings?

Please forgive a naive question. I am wanting to use your caching provider within an existing project that previously used another caching provider - but the latter won't work with EF 6.0.

In mycurrent project the (multiple) connection strings specify e.g.:

<add name=".." connectionString=".." providerName="EFCachingProvider" />

where the EFCachingProvider is registered elsewhere in the web.config.

In your example code, the configuration is done in code in the Configuration class. So what provider name should be specified in the connection strings in Web.config - or do I just revert to the default ("System.Data.SqlClient")?

EFCaching provider won't work with EF6. I believe that in addition to removing references in the config you will also need to update the SSDL part of the EDMX

if you have something like this in your edmx:

Provider="EFCachingProvider" ProviderManifestToken="System.Data.SqlClient;2008"

you will need to change this to:

Provider="System.Data.SqlClient" ProviderManifestToken="2008"

I believe the provider name in your config file should be System.Data.EntityClient if you are using edmx:

providerName="System.Data.EntityClient"

Thanks,
